Cote Blanche Salt Mine

The Cote Blanche salt mine has operated in St. Mary Parish since 1961. With more than 150 employees, the mine contributes an estimated $25 million to the local economy each year and provides rock salt for road safety in 18 states to help keep the economy moving and families traveling safely throughout the year.

Because of safety concerns, we oppose a proposal to store 46 billion cubic feet of pressurized natural gas in a cavern adjacent to our underground miners.
